The convergence of microprocessors, “paper” batteries, new materials, micromachines, and their like, will not only create new tools, but also new toys.

My favorite axiom of technological innovation and diffusion is, to paraphrase McLuhan, “first we create our tools, and thereafter kids and artists turn them into games, toys, theatre, and art.”
