Notes:
These slides were prepared for an afternoon colloquium of the Finnish Society for Futures Studies, the topic of which was the initiation of Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC) activities as a new node of the UNU’s Millennium Project. Having just completed six months as a Fulbright Researcher/Lecturer with the FFRC, and as a Fellow of the World Futures Studies Federation, I was asked to focus on the need for futures learning in connection with Millennium Project activities: that is, disseminating the awareness of futures studies and foresight to a wider population, as well as the concepts and tools of futures research.
Given Finland’s reputation as a culture of design genius, I took that as the focus of the presentation: how do we design activities in futures studies to make them more accessible to more people, more communities, organizations, businesses, and public agencies?
